What
are Art Koans?
Koans
come from the Zen tradition of awakening.
A
koan
is an impossible question asked repeatedly,
by the mind, until an
answer arises.
A
typical koan is the question:
"What is the sound of one hand
clapping?".
Usually,
only dedicated Zen students have the discipline
to
keep the 'koan question' reverberating in the mind,
moment by
moment, day by day, month by month
until the realisation finally
occurs.
Art
Koans are silent pictorial insights.
They
are
not depicting intellectual theories or speculations.
Truth
is
not outside of oneself but a revelation from within.
Seek
it
there.
May you all, in your own way,
discover the Spirit of Freedom by Questing Life.
